Painting walls with an app

IMAGINE knowing exactly what your walls would look like before you even start to paint it. With the Dulux Visualizer 3.0 app launched by AkzoNobel, the leading paints and coatings company and producer of Dulux paints, consumers can see, share their visions and paint in their chosen colours in real time.

The upgraded Visualizer app has new features added, namely of taking videos, where consumers can capture a video of their walls and experiment with hundreds of different colours that would suit their wall. They can also use the ingenious Colour Picker technology to choose a colour that inspires them from their surroundings.

Since it was first introduced in 2014, this award-winning app has had more than 10 million downloads. Using augmented reality and video visualisation technology, the app will be rolled out in over 40 markets this year, beginning with the Netherlands, Turkey, France, India, Indonesia, Argentina and Russia.

When consumers have found the colour of their choice and made their decision, they can purchase their paint by finding a store nearest to them via the store locator function in the app.

Another interesting feature of the new Visualizer app is that consumers can upload their chosen colour on social media and share it with family and friends to get a second opinion.

"AkzoNobel has a long and distinguished history and our brands, partners, customers, service providers and our media friends are crucial to the success of our company," said Indira Laban, General Manager of AkzoNobel Decorative Paints Malaysia, Singapore and Brunei.

He also added, "At AkzoNobel, we continue to create everyday essentials to make people's lives more liveable and inspiring. Picking the right colour for the festive season is now made easy with the Visualizer 3.0 app."

"We are constantly looking for and finding ways to understand our Malaysian consumers behaviour. We thus look into any emerging trends, innovations, and technologies to help us stay ahead of the curve," explained Laban. "We want to deliver products and colours that people want. Visualizer is a tool designed to give consumers confidence to try new colours quicker and see the potential end result of their purchase, and to share with their friends and families to get their opinions on chosen colours."
