Eight pre-war houses in George Town catch fire

GEORGE TOWN: Eight pre-war houses along Jalan C.Y. Choy here were damaged by fire this morning.

The 11am blaze that started at the back of a residential home spread quickly to neighbouring air conditioning, motorcycle spare parts and mirror repair shops.

The fire was brought under control by 20 firefighters within 30 minutes.

No casualties were reported at Press time but the blaze caused a traffic congestion near Komtar due to road closures that ensued.
