SANDAKAN: An accident here claimed the life of a woman while her husband and child sustained minor injuries when a 4WD rammed into the family travelling on a motorcycle.
In the incident last night, the family of three were riding towards an oil palm plantation in Kuala Sapi from Kampung Jaya Bakti here.
When the 4WD ran into the motorcycle, the impact of the crash flung the three onto the road.
They were rushed by the public to the Beluran district hospital but the woman did not survive.
Her 35-year-old husband and their 3-year-old daughter received treatment for minor injuries.
The driver of the 4WD, who is a civil servant in Beluran, escaped unhurt.
District police assistant commissioner Mohd Azhar Hamin said police were investigating the case under Section 41(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987.
