Petronas staff, SMK Wakaf Bharu students give Kelantan's complex for disabled a Ramadan makeover

KOTA BARU: The fasting month did not stop 20 Petronas staff and 40 students from Sekolah Menengah Kebangsaan (SMK) Wakaf Bharu, Tumpat from taking part in a gotong-royong to spruce up the complex of the Kelantan Foundation for the Disabled (YOKUK) in Pengkalan Chepa here today.

The Petronas volunteers from offices in Kerteh, Terengganu and Kuala Lumpur, and the students spent several hours cleaning up the area, repairing the fence and other minor defects, as well as refreshing several parts of the complex with new coats of paint.

Petronas general manager for the east coast region, Wan M Hasnan Abdullah said this was part of its community programme especially for Ramadan.

"YOKUK has played a good role in helping the disabled in the state and we are repaying them for all the services that they have been giving to the community," he said

The foundation's general manager Sulaini Mat Il thanked Petronas for selecting them to carry out this community project.

"We are a non-governmental organisation (NGO) and we need the assistance of the public in all our activities.

"I am very happy and glad that the volunteers have given the complex a facelift. It has made the place more cheerful," she said.
