119 LPG cylinders, lorry seized in Tuaran

TUARAN: The authority yesterday seized 119 liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) cylinders and a lorry, near here.

District Domestic Trade and Consumer Affairs Ministry chief K. Gunasegaran said following an inspection, there were three offences committed by businessmen in the district.

"Among them include operating as an LPG supplier with a licence that has expired since May 31 last year.

"Besides that, a business owner also possessed more LPGs than allowed under the scheduled controlled retail items," he said, adding that one of them was fined RM2,500 for failing to display price tags on the LPGs cylinders.

He added that LPG is one of the scheduled control items. He said traders were not allowed to sell them without approval from the authorities.

The cases were being investigated under the Control Supply Act 1961 and Anti-Profiteering Act 2011.

Gunasegaran urged all business owners to abide by the law and that the ministry would not compromise with anyone trying to taking advantage of consumers.
