Customer vents anger at restaurants for not giving wi-fi password to order using QR code

KUALA LUMPUR: A customer vented her frustration at restaurant owners who provide a QR code for customers to place their orders but do not give out their eatery's wi-fi password.

Zeeda Aziz "I've encountered this many times. If I'm in a bad mood, I'll leave and find another restaurant," she wrote on Facebook.

She said she couldn't open the link on the QR code due to a weak data signal, and had asked her child to get the wi-fi password.

She said she was stunned when an employee said she needed to place an order first before she could use its wi-fi.

Zeeda wrote: "Do they think we're just here to hang out and use their Internet?"

She said if restaurants didn't want customers to use their wi-fi, they should not insist on customers using a QR code.

"Take orders manually."

She added that the eatery's food was good and the preparation time wasn't long either.

"It's just that the ordering process is frustrating, especially with the phrase 'order first if you want wi-fi'. This just makes you angrier."

Zeeda wrote that she had informed staff members about this issue.

Netizens shared their thoughts on this issue.

Ummu Atif said: "I agree. Sometimes they use QR codes, but there's no wi-fi. I've also left a restaurant because I couldn't place an order.

"We don't have time to deal with slow connections when we're hungry."

Ain Syuhada. said: "To get the password, you have to order first? Fine, just get up and leave. It's inconvenient. Especially for older people who aren't very tech-savvy."
