SHAH ALAM: The Education Ministry is looking into the shortage of government-run preschools and kindergartens in urban areas.
Its minister, Fadhlina Sidek, said the ministry was aware of the need to increase both early childhood education facilities.
"I have discussed with the ministry's secretary-general and education director-general and decided that there is a need to increase the number of government-run preschools and kindergartens and if needed, expedite policies related to this issue," she told a press conference today.
It was reported recently that there is a lack of government-run early childhood education centres in urban areas. This has left parents burdened and struggling to find privately run institutions to send their children.
