DAMAGED guardrails found along the Federal Highway-Jalan Pantai Baru ramp, which is close to the busy traffic light junction heading to Universiti Malaya and Kampung Kerinchi, are worrying Nor Azah Ahmad.
The 29-year-old said the unsightly state of the structure — bent, broken and covered in rust, and missing a few rails — might had been caused by a vehicular accident or scrap-metal theft.
“It is an eyesore to see such a thing in the middle of the city, not to mention the danger it poses to pedestrians.
“Guardrails are a safety barrier to protect pedestrians from traffic or falling into the area between the ramp and motorcycle lane, which passes under the ramp.
“I hope the Kuala Lumpur City Hall will take prompt action to prevent any untoward incident,” she said.
ACTIONLINE:
A spokesman from the Kuala Lumpur City Hall (DBKL) said a report on the damaged guardrails had been forwarded to the relevant department for action.
“Action will be taken and we can expect maintenance work to be conducted soon to rectify the problem.
“We apologise for the trouble it has caused the pedestrians and road users.”
The spokesman also urged the public to forward any similar complaints to the DBKL 24-hour call centre at 1800-88-3255 or email to callcentre@dbkl.gov.my.
