Tilting lamp post with exposed wires causing jitters

A MANGGATAL resident has expressed concerns about a tilting lamp post in a road leading into the town, claiming it is a hazard to motorists and pedestrians.

Valerie Suni who was driving across the town over the weekend, spotted the situation and noted that the lamp post had tilted 45° from the ground, with wires hanging and spread across the street.

“The lamp pole was probably hit by a car and that is why it is tilted.

“It could fall on someone or a vehicle.

“There are also wires on the ground.”

ACTIONLINE:

Following a call from Actionline, Kota Kinabalu City Hall dispatched a contractor to the location and adjusted the pole to a standing position. The lamp post, however, remains non-functional for pending rewiring. Kota Kinabalu City Hall Complaints and Public Relations Department director Syron A. Tunggolou, who redirected the matter to its electrical division, said new wiring would be re-installed.

“The power supply has been disconnected (so there should not be live-wire risks).”
