MOTORISTS are unhappy about traffic congestion at the Tuan Padang roundabout in Kota Baru on Fridays.
They said it was due to people, who were attending a weekly ceramah organised by the state government at Dataran Ilmu, parking their vehicles along the roundabout.
Businessman Syafik Mohamad said the parked cars were blocking half the road.
“This happens every Friday between 8am and noon,” said the 32-year-old from Wakaf Che Yeh.
“Sometimes, there are policemen directing the traffic, but most of the time, they are not around.”
ACTIONLINE:
A spokesman from the state police headquarters said traffic police had been deployed to the area to monitor the situation on Fridays.
“However, there aren’t enough policemen to deal with the increase in the number of cars and motorcycles heading for the area.
“Sometimes, police issue summonses to errant motorists and motorcyclists for parking illegally.”
