JPDC assists 50 entrepreneurs with business courses throughout 2017

JOHOR BHARU: Johor Petroleum Development Corp Bhd (JPDC) has assisted about 50 entrepreneurs from the areas of Pengerang, Johor throughout 2017, from courses in administration to courses in expanding their businesses.

The courses is aimed to develop them to join the economic development alongside the development of downstream oil and gas industry in Pengerang Integrated Petroleum Complex (PIPC).

In conjunction with Jelajah Pengerang 2018 sponsored by Parliament for Pengerang, which was held at Stadium Bandar Penawar, Bandar Penawar, Johor today, 45 local entrepreneurs received their Certificate of Completion for Entrepreneurial Development Programme and Enhancement Business Communication in English courses which was organised by JPDC through out 2017.

The certificates were given by Dato Sri Azalina Othman Said who is a member of Parliament for Pengerang and a minister in the Prime Minister’s Department.

"In planning and facilitating PIPC’s development, one of the mandate from Malaysia’s Federal Government’s to JPDC, was to guarantee the local community of Pengerang is able to benefit from the economic overflowing effect due to the development of PIPC, and to provide them with opportunities and abilities for them to take part in the economic activities," JPDC deputy chief executive Izhar Hifnei Ismail said.

"The entrepreneurs and business communities have been in existence prior to the development however, since the development of downstream oil and gas industry in Pengerang began in 2013, it has changed the landscape of Pengerang with additional new businesses, new types of clientele and high-quality service," Izhar said.

Since 2014, JPDC has organised several courses in Business Administration to support the local entrepreneurs to strengthen and expand their businesses, and to increase their self confidence as an entrepreneur.

This includes assisting them to communicate in English in their daily business transactions.

At the start of 2017, 30 entrepreneurs from Pengerang attended a course in Catering and Tailoring, organised by JPDC.
