UDA to develop RM1.2b Desaru Park City project

JOHOR BAHRU:  UDA Holdings Bhd plans to launch a mixed development project, Desaru Park City in Bandar Penawar, Kota Tinggi, with a gross development value of RM1.2 billion by year-end or the first quarter of next year.

Datuk Nordin Murat, UDA Group Chief Operating Officer for Business Development and Special Projects, said the 40-hectare project would be a joint venture between South East Johor Development Authority (Kejora) and IR Security.

The development spans five phases, with the first phase consisting of 135 single-storey terrace houses (Johor Affordable Housing Scheme), 350 apartment units, 69 two-storey terrace houses and 28 units of shop-office.

“This latest project in Johor taps on the potential of Bandar Penawar due to the rapid development happening around the Refinery and Petrochemical Integrated Development (RAPID) area in Pengerang,” he told reporters at the Colours of Uda Carnival @ South property exhibition in Angsana Johor Bahru Mall today.

Nordin said UDA also aimed to build a budget hotel within the development due to its proximity to popular tourism spot Desaru.

Meanwhile, at the carnival, UDA launched the UDA Property mobile app that allowed customers and potential buyers to obtain the latest information on the agency’s property offerings.

The launch was witnessed by Johor Women Development and Tourism Committee Chairman, Liow Cai Tung.
