Boustead Holdings appoints new members to its board

KUALA LUMPUR: Boustead Holdings Bhd (BHB) is poised to record a positive momentum with the new appointment of new individuals to its boards, effective July 15.

The new appointment comprising Lieutenant General Datuk Fadzil Mokhtar (R) as independent non-executive director, Datuk Nonee Ashirin Mohd Radzi as independent non-executive director, Abraham Verghese as independent non-executive director and Loong Caesar as independent non-executive director.

With this diverse and well-rounded board, BHB said the group would certainly benefit from their backgrounds and broad experience.

Fadzil served in the Malaysian Army for over 41 years in various capacities, including as a legal officer at the Army Headquarters, Legal Adviser to the Malaysian Peacekeeping Contingent in Bosnia Herzegovina, Head of Human Resource for the Malaysian Army and Head of Mission of the International Monitoring Team in Mindanao.

He has vast operational experience in addressing security challenges and was appointed Joint Force Commander of the Malaysian Armed Forces in 2016 until his retirement in 2018.

Nonee has had more than 20 years of experience in the aerospace and defence industry and is a Barrister-At-Law of Lincoln’s Inn, London, having been called to the Malaysian Bar in 1999.

She is currently the chairman of Global Turbine Asia Sdn Bhd, a maintenance, repair and overhaul service provider of military and civil engines in the Asia Pacific region, and a Partner in Arthur Yeong Nonee Ashirin Advocates and Solicitors.

Abraham has vast experience in accounting, auditing and financial consulting. He was also a national partner at Arthur Andersen from 1994 to 1997. He was subsequently appointed Worldwide Partner from 1997 to 2001.

He went on to become a Partner at Ernst & Young from 2002 to 2016. Concurrently, he was a council member of the Malaysian Institute of Accountants (MIA) from 2007 to 2011 and a committee member of the Malaysian Advisory Committee of the Association of Certified Chartered Accountants from 2007 to 2009, along with serving in various committees and working groups of MIA and the Malaysian Institute of Certified Public Accountants.

He is currently on the boards of Tadmax Resources Bhd and several private limited companies.

Loong Caesar has had an illustrious legal career spanning 34 years. He was admitted as a Barrister of the Middle Temple in 1983 and remains a member to this day.

He is a founder and presently the managing partner of the law firm Raslan Loong, Shen & Eow. He has extensive experience in all areas of corporate and commercial law across diverse industries.

He is also a corporate and commercial litigator and panel arbitrator with the Asian International Arbitration Centre. He currently sits on the board of Mulpha International Bhd.

Since its inception as a modest trading entity more than 180 years ago, the Boustead Group has more than 90 subsidiaries, associate companies and joint ventures, and has substantial interests in various sectors of the Malaysian economy.
