DENGKIL, Selangor: Gamuda Land Bhd has opened the new RM150 million Gamuda Cove Interchange here.
It provides direct access from the North-South Expressway Central Link (ELITE) Highway into the 1,530-acre Gamuda Cove township.
The interchange leads straight into the township's 372-acre commercial business district.
The interchange, which took two years for completion, features a 12-lane toll plaza, washrooms, prayer room and parking bays for road users’ comfort and convenience.
Gamuda Land said the interchange will be the key access point for its future phases.
Two additional linkages are in the pipeline to connect Gamuda Cove and Cyberjaya via Persiaran Cove Selatan in the near future.
Gamuda Land executive director Datuk Abdul Sahak Safi said Gamuda Cove was planned not just as a smart township, but also as a protected natural sanctuary.
“With GDV of RM 20 billion, Gamuda Cove is on track to realise our vision of becoming a ‘Nature Santuary, Smart City’. Its strategic location, bordering the Kuala Langat forest reserve and Paya Indah Wetlands, allows us to streamline our development, in line with the natural greenery surrounding our community,” Abdul Sahak said at the launch today..
"The development of the 60-acre central park is currently ongoing and is expected to be completed before our residents move in,” he added.
Meanwhile, Works Minister Baru Bian said the interchange toll plaza would start collecting tolls at 11am tonight (Friday).
Bian said the interchange will help in the development of the surrounding areas, besides connecting the residents of Dengkil with areas such as Sepang, Putrajaya and Cyberjaya.
“With infrastructure planning and the construction of new intersections along existing highways, people will have easy access to some areas that were previously considered as far-reaching.
“This also provides an opportunity for real estate developers in Malaysia, such as Gamuda Land to explore the suburbs for development of new township that provides good links with city centres and other cities,” he added.
