RHB launched a virtual cycling event, pledged RM100,000 by donating RM1 for every kilometre cycled

KUALA LUMPUR: RHB Banking Group has launched RHB Virtual Ride: Ride for Good, it's first virtual cycling event to raise funds for Covid-19 impacted families.

The bank said the event is expected to attract up to 1,000 participants and provides the opportunity for participating cyclists to contribute to a good cause simply by cycling.

RHB has pledged RM100,000 as part of the virtual cycling event, contributing RM1 for every 1 kilometre (km) cycled, with a cap of 100km per participating cyclist.

"This amount will go towards assisting underserved communities that are impacted by the prolonged Covid-19 pandemic and the movement control order (MCO).

"In addition to the RM100,000 pledged by RHB for the virtual ride, RHB Foundation will be allocating an additional RM100,000 to be channelled towards the same cause," it said.

Group managing director and chief executive officer Datuk Khairussaleh Ramli said in addition to the RM200,000 allocated by RHB and RHB Foundation, the bank is also encouraging its employees and customers to participate in the RHB Touch Hearts donation drive to channel even more assistance to local communities.

"About 1,000 selected families impacted by the pandemic across the nation are expected to receive assistance in the form of financial aid as well as daily household essentials to help them sustain throughout the prolonged pandemic and the Movement Control Order (MCO)," said Khairussaleh.

Registration for the RHB Virtual Ride: Ride for Good is free of charge and is open from August 25 to September 17, 2021, with a single 'open category' for all cyclists, allowing for indoor and outdoor cycling participants.

The event is expected to take place from September 18 until October 3, 2021.

The organiser reserves the right to revisit outdoor cycling options subject to standard operating procedure (SOP) requirements imposed by National Security Council.
