KUALA LUMPUR: Technology Depository Agency (TDA), Datasonic Technologies Sdn Bhd (DTSB), and Universiti Teknologi Mara (UiTM) have joined forces to establish a cyber security lab facility.
The facility, which will also serve as a cyber security centre at UiTM, is one of the projects that resulted from government procurement under the Home Ministry and was required to fulfil the Industrial Collaboration Programme (ICP) obligations.
According to the TDA, cyber security facilities developed by DTSB are aimed at improving local efficiency in preventing cyber security threats.
DTSB, as an ICP provider, has agreed to upgrade UiTM's cyber security laboratory so that it can be used as a threat response and prevention hub for cyber security.
"This project illustrates how ICP can generate investment cooperation between universities and industry.
"With the technology and knowledge transfer process that has been carried out, we hope that this project will be able to generate impact and returns that add value to the country, especially in the field of cyber security," said TDA chief executive officer Dr. Sharoul Jambari.
UiTM vice chancellor Prof. Hajah Roziah Mohd Janor said experts that will develop from the centre will provide a secure and capable cyber ecosystem to defend cyber assets such as networks and information systems from threats such as data theft and cyber attacks.
"This in turn will lead to national development and indirectly attract the interest of foreign investors to invest in Malaysia."
In developing local capacity and expertise, the centre also offers specific training that will empower local skills and talents.
Among the training courses offered are Data Analytics, Security Operations, and Certified Network Defender.
