KUALA LUMPUR: Property developer Avaland Bhd has appointed Apollo Bello Tanco (Pol) as its chief executive officer, succeeding Teh Heng Chong, effective from Jan 1 next year.
Teh will remain on Avaland's board of directors as an non-independent non-executive director.
Avaland chairman Tan Sri Abi Musa Asa'ari said Teh has led the company through some of its most challenging years and was instrumental in successfully transforming the company.
"During his tenure, our company handed-over 4,417 units of properties without delays, launched numerous award-winning projects, successfully rebranded our company to Avaland and established our Sustainability Roadmap," he said in a statement.
Avaland looks forward to a seamless transition as Pol served as the company's chief operating officer between 2019 and 2022 and is familiar with both Avaland and the Malaysian property market.
Pol brings with him a wealth of both technical and management experience, having served as the head of senior estate development at Ayala Land and is responsible for the development five townships covering almost 5,500 acres.
He also served as the head of project and strategic management group of Avida Land Corporation, which is the development arm of Ayala Land that serves the middle- income segment.
Abi Musa said having been with Ayala Land for close to 30 years, Pol's appointment as the chief executive officer will further enhance operational alignment and create more synergies between Ayala Land and Avaland.
