Bask Bear Coffee plans more outlets in malls this year

KUALA LUMPUR: Homegrown coffee chain Bask Bear Coffee plans to concentrate on expansion this year by adding more locations in malls, according to Loob Holding Sdn Bhd, the company that owns the brand.

As of right now, Bask Bear has 415 locations, said Bryan Loo, the founder and chief executive officer of Loob Holding.

According to Loo, the brand has always prioritised operating out of shop lots as opposed to malls.

He said that shop lots and mall outlets would be distributed fairly among different neighborhoods in the future.

"The brand still has a lot of room to grow," he said during the launch of the Sambal Toasties with Jaya Grocer Private Labels at Starling Mall in Petaling Jaya on Wednesday.

To add some spice to the new year, Bask Bear paired its well-liked Village Park Nasi Lemak Sambal with a toasted sandwich.

According to Loo, spicy flavours are becoming more and more popular in a variety of baked goods and snacks, and he predicted that Bask Bear's Toasties would see rapid growth by 2024.

"Drawing inspiration from Malaysia's flavourful culinary heritage, renowned for our bold and spicy preferences, we recognize that spiciness is not just a trend but an integral part of Malaysian life," he said.
