Batik Air assures customers that tickets issued before June 1 will not be charged new PSC rates

KUALA LUMPUR: Batik Air has assured its customers that tickets issued by the company prior to June 1 will be based on the current passenger service charge (PSC) instead of the revised rate.

It said the initial rate is applied even if the travel date occurs on or after June 1. The airline acknowledged the recent announcement by the Malaysian Aviation Commission (Mavcom) regarding revisions to PSC effective June 1.

Chief executive officer Datuk Chandran Rama Muthy said that Batik Air supports the importance of these PSC revisions as essential investments needed to facilitate the ongoing expansion of airport infrastructure, crucial for supporting the growth of the Malaysian aviation sector.

"With the increased rates that apply to passengers at KLIA, we are hoping for an elevated standard of services for the use of the facilities, and hope to see issues such as congestion addressed in order to offer an excellent passenger touchpoint experience."At Batik Air, we remain committed to delivering exceptional experiences for our customers, and we trust that this initiative will contribute positively to the industry's growth and development," he said in a statement.

Mavcom announced yesterday that passengers transferring flights at most Malaysian airports will be charged a PSC of RM7 for domestic flights and up to RM42 for international flights from June 1.

KLIA 1 will be charge a transfer PSC of RM42, while all other airports will charge RM29.

The departure PSC for domestic travellers is maintained at RM11 at all airports except Senai International airport where it will be raised to RM16 from June 1, 2024.

Departure PSC for international travellers has been standardised regardless of the destination to RM73 for KLIA1 and RM50 for all other airports.
