KUALA LUMPUR: Gamuda Bhd's subsidiary, Gamuda Engineering Sdn Bhd, has been awarded two contracts totaling RM1.74 billion by Sime Darby Property Bhd (SD Property) for the construction of a hyperscale data centre in Elmina Business Park.

Gamuda said the initial stage of the project entails constructing, where it will handle the construction, finishing, testing, and commissioning of the hyperscale data centre and its related supplementary facilities.
"The phase has a contract value of RM815 million and is scheduled to commence on May 27, with a target completion date of Feb 27, 2026," it added.
The next stage, which entails the mechanical, electrical, and plumbing (MEP) fit-out, is a distinct contract worth RM928.6 million.
This contract includes the fitting, testing, and activation of the data centre's MEP systems in Elmina Business Park 1A.
Work is expected to start in July 1, 2025 and be completed by Sept 9, 2026.
"To meet the rising demand for data centre construction, Gamuda plans to ramp up its Next-Gen Digital (Industrialised Building System) IBS production capacity for data centre materials.
"This strategic move positions Gamuda to capitalise on the significant opportunities," the company said.
