KUALA LUMPUR: Information and Communications Technology (ICT) system and solutions provider, SNS Network Technology Bhd has been appointed as an authorised retailer for Starlink's equipment in Malaysia by VSTECS Bhd.
In January, VSTECS was named Starlink's authorised distributor in Malaysia.
SNS Network managing director Ko Yun Hung said the appointment will allow the company to expand its ICT products range to include Starlink satellite kit across its physical and online stores as well as to its customers which include government agencies and commercial enterprise.
Starlink satellite broadband hardware kit comes with the Starlink dish, its base, a router, a power cable and Starlink cable.
"We are delighted to be entrusted as one of the authorised Starlink retailers in Malaysia. The appointment marks a new milestone in our ICT products expansion journey. SNS Network will now be offering a complete internet connectivity in Malaysia from fixed fibre broadband as well as wireless broadband solutions such as 4G and 5G to satellite broadband products," Ko said.
The company's stock was up 8 per cent to 65.5 sen a share. It was among the top ten most active stocks in the morning session, with 43.7 million shares changing hands.
Starlink is a satellite internet constellation operated by Starlink Services, LLC, a wholly-owned subsidiary of SpaceX.
Known for its high-speed, low latency internet, Starlink provides quality and cost-effective internet access to homes, businesses, and especially caters to those in remote locations that are currently underserved or unreached.
As at 2023 year-end it had a customer base of 2.3 million and a presence in over 70 countries.
