Eleventh-hour gains in Kuala Lumpur Kepong, Public Bank, Petronas Gas and PPB Group helped the FBM KLCI close higher by a hair's breadth after staying in the red for most of the day.
The key index closed at 1,633.81 points.
The cryptocurrency market however contracted, taking cue from the slide in US stocks.
Bitcoin was down to RM302,230. Ethereum also fell to RM16,090 while Solana declined to RM743
The ringgit was lower against the greenback at 4.6675.
