Zaiyadal signs tripartite agreement to advance Indonesia's halal ecosystem

KUALA LUMPUR: Zaiyadal Sdn Bhd aims to enhance Indonesia's Halal ecosystem in line with the country's Halal assurance goals.

Its subsidiary, Serunai Commerce Sdn Bhd, has signed a tripartite Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Department of Halal Auditing and Halalan Thoyyiban of the Central Board of Muhammadiyah (Muhammadiyah) and ALS Technichem Malaysia Sdn Bhd (ALSM).

In a statement, Zaiyadal said that the partnership will leverage Serunai's digital Halal ecosystem solutions to streamline and automate the compliance and certification processes.

These solutions will be implemented across Muhammadiyah Group's Halal centres and institutions, providing Halal audit services and digital literacy training to help businesses navigate the Halal certification process more efficiently.

Datuk Dr. Lukman Ibrahim, Zaiyadal group executive director, described the MoU as a significant milestone in advancing Indonesia's Halal ecosystem by enhancing its integrity, transparency, and efficiency.

"This tripartite partnership between Serunai, Muhammadiyah, and ALSM is a natural fit. Each party brings its own strengths to the table, and by integrating them, we can provide a holistic and sustainable solution for Indonesia's Halal ecosystem.

"Through the partnership, the parties aim to address the challenges businesses face in navigating the Halal certification process," he said.

Lukman said that obtaining Halal certification in Indonesia can be a complex and lengthy process.

He said that the procedure involves multiple steps, and many small-scale business owners struggle to register for Halal certification due to a lack of understanding of the requirements.

"This agreement aims to address and improve this situation.

"Through the integration of Halal activities, we are hopeful that this partnership will help businesses achieve compliance and ultimately succeed in obtaining Halal certification," he added.

Zaiyadal Group founder and chairman Tuan Haji Zaid Abdullah mentioned that the agreement among the three parties creates an opportunity to expand services in the fields of dakwah, education, social, and medical sectors through Muhammadiyah's institutions and public health services.

"It is now time to focus on the Halal ecosystem. We aim to launch this initiative in Indonesia, which has the world's largest Muslim population and is recognised as a global leader in Halal.

"Through this collaboration, we seek to empower Muslims to become producers of Halal products," he said in his speech.
