KUALA LUMPUR: Bank Rakyat said it will start paying a special dividend of 2.0 percentin conjunction with its 70th anniversary, to 784,487 members from Sep 28, 2024.
The dividend will amount to RM56.6 million.
In a statement today, the bank said the special dividend payment reflects its commitment to continue to provide competitive returns to members.
It said this also marks Bank Rakyat's continued important role in the economic development of the community as one of the largest Islamic financial institutions and cooperative bank in Malaysia.
Bank Rakyat said it is committed in maintaining good growth performance and remain relevant every year, driven by the implementation of new approaches based on business plans and long-term strategic plans.
"This includes harnessing the potential that can be explored in business and operations through digital transformation to create long-term value for members and customers."These dividends not only add to members' income but also help them achieve their personal financial goals, whether for savings, investments or daily expenses," it added.
On April 5, Bank Rakyat announced a 15 per cent dividend payment for the financial year 2023 with a total payment of RM424.62 million, including special dividend of 2.0 per cent in conjunction with its 70th anniversary.
The bank posted a profit before tax and zakat of RM1.76 billion for the financial year ending Dec 31, 2023, rose 3.8 per cent from RM1.70 billion in the previous year.
