KUALA LUMPUR: Sufian Abdullah has resigned from his position as the chief executive officer of UEM Sunrise Bhd.
He will cease to be the CEO effective Feb 28, 2025.
The company said Sufian expressed his interest to pursue other opportunities and will stay for the remainder of his notice period of three months.
"I am deeply grateful for the opportunity to have led UEM Sunrise through a transformative chapter and would like to sincerely thank the board of directors for their trust, as well as the incredible people of UEM Sunrise for their dedication.
"Together, we achieved remarkable milestones, and I am confident the Company will continue to grow, thrive and achieve even greater success in the years ahead," said Sufian.
UEM Sunrise chairman Datum Hisham Hamdan said that under Sufian's leadership, UEM Sunrise saw strong recovery, expanded in Australia,
and launched developments aligned with its strategic goals and recalibrated to meet
buyer preferences.
"His customer-centric and sustainable approach has driven our improved performance. We wish him the best in his future endeavours," she said.
The board of directors has named Hafizuddin Sulaiman, UEM Sunrise's chief financial officer as the officer in charge.
The board has also formed an Oversight Committee comprised of Christina Foo, Datuk Azmar Talib and Datuk Amran Hafiz Affifudin to assist Hafizuddin in discharging his duties.
At the same time, the board has commenced the formal process of identifying a candidate to replace Sufian.
URM Sunrise's shares closed 1.01 per cent or one sen lower at 98 sen with a market value of RM4.93 billion.
