KUALA LUMPUR: Bursa Malaysia opened higher on Friday supported by financial services and healthcare heavyweights.
At 9.28am, the FTSE Bursa Malaysia (FBM) KLCI added 0.27 per cent or 4.4 points to 1,606.48 versus Thursday's close of 1,62.08.
The key index opened marginally higher at 1,603.86.
The broader market saw gainers led losers 334 to 269 while 378 counters were unchanged.
Rakuten Trade Sdn Bhd equity research vice president Thong Pak Leng said the FBM KLCI closed marginally lower yesterday amid some bargain hunting activities particularly when the index dipped below the 1,600 level.
"In view of the low market liquidity, we believe performance of the local bourse to remain lacklustre thus expect the index to trend between the 1,600-1,610 range today," he said in a note.
