Bank Rakyat's scholarships for three who excelled in SPM

KUALA LUMPUR: Bank Rakyat has given out educational scholarships totalling RM55,000 to three students who excelled in the 2022 Malaysian Certificate of Education (SPM) examination.

The exceptional students are Muhammad Syahril Saidi, Alia Maisarah Abdullah and Khairunnisa Che Roslan.

"Bank Rakyat's scholarship is part of our initiative to create equal access to higher education for those in need, thereby contributing to the development of the nation's human capital.

"These students have the potential to become skilled human resource prospects and high-value successors in the leadership of the country," said Bank Rakyat chief executive officer Datuk Mohammad Hanis Osman.

Muhammad Syahril has been awarded a RM12,000 scholarship to support his foundation course in Islamic Studies at University of Malaya (UM) for one year.

Alia Maisarah and Khairunnisa have been provided scholarships of RM21,500 each.

The scholarships will enable them to pursue a comprehensive five-year educational program at the Teacher Education Institute (IPG).

Mohammad Hanis said the initiative also reflects Bank Rakyat's ongoing commitment to prioritise those in need with compassion and kindness, aligning with the concept of Malaysia Madani, especially in driving the development of human capital and community through education.

"Personally, I applaud the resilience and determination of these young individuals. Despite facing various challenges at a young age and the loss of loved ones, they never gave up on pursuing knowledge to change their family's fortunes.

"Their determination should serve as an example and inspiration to all, indirectly reminding us of the utmost importance of education," he added.
