A SHORT DRIVE WITH THE ALL-NEW MYVI

The first-generation Perodua Myvi was introduced 12 years ago in 2005. To date, the carmaker has sold more than a million units of the iconic compact car since its introduction.

We had the opportunity to spend a short time with the all-new Myvi, driving around the carmaker’s test track a few weeks ago, and were impressed with its improvements.

The all-new Perodua Myvi we drove had a responsive acceleration, its gearbox switched gears smoothly. It had a quiet cabin, the engine and wind noise were well isolated within speed limits. However, tyre noise was noticeable.

The car’s suspension absorbed most bumps and rough road conditions smoothly, provided a comfortable ride for both driver and passengers. The all-new Myvi provides ample headroom and legroom for the driver and passengers. A large framed six-footer has no issues with the cabin space.

The range-topping 1.5 Advance features the Advance Safety Assist system. The system consists of a series of safety features, which are the Pre-Collision Warning (PCW), Pre-Collision Braking (PCB), Front Departure Alert (FDA) and Pedal Misoperation Control (PMC).

PCW alerts the driver when a collision is about to happen, while PCB is low-speed autonomous emergency braking. Meanwhile, FDA alerts the driver when the car in front has moved on and PMC is a system that will not allow the car to accelerate if it detects an obstruction in front.
