KUALA LUMPUR: Those who are keen to see the new Mazda CX-30 can pay a visit to any Mazda showroom.
The new model has been open for booking since the beginning of last month.
The official launch is expected to take place soon.
Details for the latest crossover, including pricing and specifications are available.
The fully-imported CX-30 will be offered in three variants — 2.0L 2WD priced at RM143,119.20, 2.0L High 2WD at RM164,119.20 and 1.8L Diesel High 2WD at RM173,027.70.
It may look confusing, but the CX-30 is slotted between the CX-3 and the CX-5. It features a lot of styling cues from the Mazda3 Liftback (hatchback).
It’s not surprising as the CX-30 is built around the same platform as the Mazda3.
Present in the exterior design is the latest Kodo design language, with a gaping front grille flanked by a pair of slender LED headlights.
There is also a prominent character line along the side that manipulates light play on the surface.
As a crossover or SUV, the CX-30 gets black plastic claddings that run around the entire bottom of the car, including around the wheel arches for a more rugged look.
This red CX-30 is a 2.0G High, with 18-inch alloy wheels, while the base variant rides on 16-inch rollers.
Inside, the similarities between the CX-30 and Mazda3 is even more ostensible, with a dashboard that looks like it was taken straight from the hatchback.
As expected, the CX-30 is pretty well-equipped, featuring an 8.8-inch multimedia unit with reversing camera, Apple Carplay and Android Auto, Bluetooth connectivity, voice command as well as eight speakers.
The High and Diesel variants will receive more equipment, including keyless entry, powered tailgate, powered driver seats with memory function, leather upholstery, dual-zone climate control with rear vents, paddle-shifters and parking sensors.
On to the mechanical bits, the CX-30 can be had with two different propulsion depending on the variant.
A 2.0-litre SkyActiv-G petrol engine makes 163hp and 213Nm of torque for the base and High variants, while a 1.8-litre SkyActiv-D diesel unit churns out 114hp and 270Nm of torque.
Front-wheel drive and six-speed SkyAcitv-Drive automatic transmission combination is standard across the board.
Additionally, the CX-30 also comes with the brand’s G-Vectoring Control Plus (GVC Plus) and i-Stop Idling Technology for an improved fuel efficiency.
As for the safety department, all CX-30 variants are fitted with seven airbags as standard.
And again, the higher High and Diesel trims get added kits including Adaptive Front Lighting System, High Beam Control, Blind Spot Monitoring System, Rear Cross Traffic Alert, Smart Brake Support and Mazda Radar Cruise Control.
