KUALA LUMPUR: Facebook is the brand that people in Malaysia would be proudest to work for, according to YouGov BrandIndex report.
The social media giant tops the Employer Reputation rankings with a score of 51.7, comfortably ahead of the others on the list – auto manufacturers Mercedes Benz (43.7) and BMW (43.2) are in second and third positions respectively. Online retailer Lazada takes fourth spot (41.9) followed by financial services brand Maybank (41.1).
The rest of the list is made up of international brands. Messenger service WhatsApp takes sixth place (40.9), followed by Apple (40.0), and Google (38.1). Auto manufacturers Honda (37.5) and Toyota (36.0) round out the top ten.
The study, which was released today, was done by UK-based YouGov Ratings, an international, full-service market research agency and data analytics firm.
Every day, YouGov asks people in Malaysia whether they would be proud or embarrassed to work at 368 brands. This forms a brand’s ‘Employer Brand Reputation’ score.
YouGov also published its top ten brands which have improved its reputation over the past year. Topped by Huawei, the telecommunications giant increased its score by +11.3 points, comfortably ahead of second placed McDonalds (+6.6). Car maker Proton is third (+6.5) followed by social media platform Instagram (+5.7), and auto manufacturer Perodua (+5.4).
These rankings were based on a year’s worth of data until April 30 and only respondents who are aware of a given brand were interviewed.
