SUBANG JAYA: Homegrown wholesale and retail chain, Mydin Mohamed Holdings Berhad (Mydin), said it now offers ShopeePay at its retail outlets nationwide, making it the first hypermarket in the country to do so.
The collaboration is aimed at increasing payment efficiency and encouraging contactless payment amidst worrying times.
Mydin's managing director Datuk Dr Ameer Ali Mydin said with the current trend of over thousands of transactions across Mydin's outlets, allowing ShopeePay as a payment method will help speed up the process when compared to paying cash over the counter.
"Where systems are in place, it will also minimise the chance of human error. We are doing our best to break the chain of Covid-19," he said.
"Contactless payment, most importantly is an effective precautionary measure to minimise the contact and protect our staff and customers in stores," he added.
To commemorate this partnership, Mydin shoppers will enjoy a one-time special RM4 cashback when they spend at least RM10 and pay with ShopeePay at any MYDIN retail outlets from now to Feb 28, 2021, or until it is fully redeemed. Shoppers also stand to receive RM3 cashback daily on their subsequent purchase at any branch when they spend a minimum of RM15 in a single transaction.
Additionally, first-time ShopeePay users will receive an RM8 voucher when they complete their first transaction with a minimum spend of RM25.
Meanwhile, ShopeePay head Alain Yee, said with the current conditions, everyone is striving to do all that they can to ensure safety and security, and this includes the customers and staff in the retail sector.
"As such, it is timely that businesses adopt contactless payments, such as using ShopeePay, as a measure to further minimise risk," he said.
"With rewards in place like the cashback, this will also speed up the adoption of contactless payment as aligned with the nation's vision towards a cashless society," he added.
