#TECH: Honor's new Magic4 Pro phone comes with better AI capabilities

KUALA LUMPUR: Honor Malaysia today announced that the new Honor Magic4 Pro smartphone will officially be available in the Malaysian market from June 11, 2022.

During his address, Honor Malaysia chief executive officer, Justin Li expressed his gratitude for the support the brand received in Malaysia, which he said is one of the most significant markets outside of China since its inception in 2013, and as an independent company - one of the largest start-up companies since last year.

"We have become one of the fastest growing technology brands in the world thanks to our innovation and quality. The Malaysian market is becoming the top launch choice outside of China," said Li.

He said the company will continue to produce flagship products that are innovative and high in quality – materials and performance wise – sharing teasers to what to expect of the soon-to-be launched device.

"Honor only uses premium quality materials regardless of cost. All Honor smartphones have gone through strict quality control, they must pass over 400 product tests and over 20 global certifications before it is launched," he said.

According to Li, the company adopted a highly automated production line to ensure all their products are high quality flagship devices and are up to Honor's slogan, "Lagi tahan, lagi best".

PREMIUM PERFORMANCE

The Honor Magic4 Pro runs on none other than Qualcomm's latest chip, the Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 5G Processor, on 8GB RAM and 256GB storage.

Backed by a Qualcomm 7th Gen AI engine and Cortex-X2 CPU architecture, the Magic4 Pro boasts ultra-fast processing with achieving high levels of efficiency.

According to Honor Malaysia deputy country manager Matthew Ng, who presented the technical specifications of the Magic4 Pro at the launch, compared to its previous releases, the Magic4 Pro's CPU and GPU performance have increased by 20 and 30 per cent respectively, with a 300 per cent jump for AI capabilities.

Operating on the latest Honor Magic UI 6.0 based on Android 12, the Magic4 Pro supports a range of enhanced and customised features to provide a smart life experience to its users such as split-screen, app twin, theme, private space and many more.

To deliver a true flagship performance, the phone is also backed by the powerful Honor Turbo Engines, which further boosts the device's performance, and Honor OS Turbo X to ensure the hardware and software work seamlessly together to improve fluency, anti-aging, and power consumption.

SYMMETRICAL QUAD-CURVED DISPLAY

The Honor Magic4 Pro features the brand's iconic "Eye of Muse", taking a symmetrical design approach with a 6.81-inch third generation of LTPO Quad-Curved display and ultra-thin bezels for a great viewing experience and an incredibly comfortable grip.

The display is not just a screen. It is the world's first mobile phone display that has 1920Hz PWM dimming LTPO, an innovative technology in display for safer viewing by reducing brightness fluctuations and screen flickering, specifically in dark or low light environments.

The Magic4 Pro also has a HDR 10+ and IMAX ENHANCED certified display with 1.07 billion colours and DCI-P3 wide colour spectrum.

Nowadays, everyone are getting accustomed to HD viewing and its independent MEMC display chip, and self-adaptive HDR rendering technology will adjusts frame rate from 30fps to 60fps, innovatively achieving real-time conversion from SDR video to HDR video, a feature that is now available on Youtube and Netflix.

STUNNING CREATIONS

Having great camera sensors is important in smartphone industry today and the Magic4 Pro pushes industry benchmarks by featuring a 50MP Wide camera, a 50MP 122 degree Ultra Wide camera, and a 64MP Periscope Telephoto camera – all powered by the best-in-class Multi-Camera Ultra Fusion photography, which according to Ng, Honor's proudest creation yet.

With the combination of a 50MP Wide camera and the 50MP Ultra-Wide camera, images can achieve a 65 per cent increase in sharpness and clarity for very detailed visual results.

Its 3.5x Optical Zoom and 100x Digital Zoom will bring fun thanks to the 64MP Periscope Telephoto camera, taking camera images a notch by 160 per cent for a total photography control.

Not only for still images, the Magic4 Pro also features Honor Magic-Log Movie Master and AI Film Effects for industry's first ever 10-bit Log 4K video recording in 60fps (frame per second), right from your smartphone.

Commonly used to shoot professional-grade movies, the Log format allows users to enhance the look of their videos with cinematic colour tones in HDR clarity.

Equipped with the Cinematic 3D LUT (Look Up Table) capabilities, the phone, with its Magic-Log format helps users edit their videos in superior colour hues fit for the movies, enabling budding creators to bring "Hollywood" style colours and moods.

THE PRIVACY CALL

Privacy has become a must in today's current environment and for a smartphone, nothing beats sound leak.

Featuring an AI Privacy Call capability, the Magic4 Pro offers privacy to both screen and speaker as they are adjusted directly only for the user's ears, avoiding potential sound leakage.

Honor pledges to protect its users' privacy through software and hardware. Honor co-developed Dual-TEE Security System (HTEE+QTEE) with Qualcomm on the Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 5G Processor for enhanced security requirements.

The Magic4 Pro is also equipped with an independent security chip, providing maximum security for passwords and biometrics like face IDs and fingerprints.

The phone's 3D Depth camera also further harnesses 3D face recognition biometrics to provide high level security and protection.

WEARABLES

At the launch, Honor also debuts two wearables – a smartwatch and earbuds.

Introducing Honor Watch GS 3, a smartwatch that was inspired by the traditional mechanical watch.

Weighing just 44g and measuring 10.5mm, the GS 3 is made of 316L stainless steel and comes in three colour variants – Midnight Black, Ocean Blue, and Classic Gold.

Like any smartwatch out there, the new Watch GS 3 also comes with monitoring capabilities. It is equipped with an eight-channel PPG (Photoplethysmography) sensor module that detects precise optical signals, together with the AI Heart Rate Monitoring Engine, which combines multiple algorithms to cancel out noise during exercise, significantly improving the accuracy of the heart rate monitoring function.

The watch also supports over 100 workout modes with precise route tracking capabilities and benefits from built-in L1/L5 Dual Frequency GNSS (Global Navigation Satellite System) when running, cycling or hiking outdoors.

The Honor Earbuds 3 Pro features an ergonomic design with world's first Coaxial Dual-Driver Design Super-Amplitude Driver and Piezoelectric Ceramic Tweeter for rich and delicate sound, and at the same time, booming bass.

Its Adaptive Active Noise Cancelling (Adaptive ANC) technology and enhanced connectivity allows users to enjoy in-depth audio experience.

It also comes with AI temperature monitoring technology – tap the buds three times and it records your temperature data instantly.

With a 5C fast charging case that comes with it, five minutes is all it takes for the user to enjoy two hours of music playback. The 3 Pro also supports wireless and reverse charging.

PRICING AND AVAILABILITY

The Honor Magic4 Pro is now open for pre-order until June 10, 2022.

The recommended retail price for the Honor Magic4 Pro is RM3,999. It is available in three colour options – Cyan, Gold and Black.

The Honor Earbuds 3 Pro is available in two colours – white and grey with a retail price of RM699 each.

Honor also announced that its SuperCharge wireless charger stand, which supports up to 100W SuperCharge, will also be available for purchase at RM299.

Honor Watch GS 3 in Midnight Black has a retail price of RM899, while the Ocean Blue and the Classic Gold variants are selling at RM999 each.
