KUALA LUMPUR: The accounts of apparel company 30 Maple Sdn Bhd are among those frozen by the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission in its probe into husband-and-wife entrepreneurs Datuk Fadzaruddin Shah Anuar and Datin Vivy Yusof, and Fashion Valet, the online fashion retailer they founded.
MACC chief commissioner Tan Sri Azam Baki said: "The MACC had seized accounts belonging to FashionValet, as for 30 Maple… if I am not mistaken, it has been frozen (as part of the investigation)."
He was speaking to reporters after an event with the media today.
On Nov 7, MACC said it had frozen several bank accounts linked to FashionValet and the couple after detecting questionable transactions.
Vivy and Fadzaruddin Shah are being investigated after it was revealed that Khazanah Nasional Bhd and Permodalan Nasional Bhd had lost RM43.9 million investing in FashionValet.
The losses were the result of both government-linked companies injecting a total of RM47 million into FashionValet in 2018, only to divest their stake for a mere RM3.1 million last year. In December 2018, FashionValet purchased 30 Maple for RM95 million.
FashionValet is an online retailer of fashion goods and 30 Maple is the owner of the dUCK brand of scarves. Both were founded by Vivy and Fadzaruddin Shah.
Azam said the MACC would call an additional two to three witnesses to assist with its investigation into the flow of cash received by the founders of FashionValet.
He said these witnesses will be in addition to the four witnesses previously mentioned on Thursday.
"To date, we have taken statements from 14 individuals in connection with our probe into the company, with another four witnesses to be called.
"There is also a possibility of two to three more witnesses. We will submit the investigation papers to the deputy public prosecutor for further instructions within two weeks," he told reporters today.
Asked whether any elements of corruption or misconduct had been found in the FashionValet probe, Azam said" "I don't want to announce that and we will submit our investigation papers to the deputy public prosecutor for further review."
