From the fantasy kingdom of Kumandra in Raya and the Last Dragon, now homegrown fashion brand CalaQisya captures the spirit of popular Disney Villainess for its second collaboration with Disney.
Three villainesses featured in this collection are the Evil Queen (from Snow White), Cruelle (from 101 Dalmatians) and Maleficent (from Sleeping Beauty & Maleficent).
There are six kaftans which have been given unique names such as Spell, Creepers, Cruella, Vein Conjure (available in 2 versions). All kaftans come in 25 different hues.
Pay attention to the design's motifs and embroidery because the embroidery on Spell and Creepers will illuminate in the dark.
"For this special collection, fine embroidery encompasses the defining trait of modesty of the CalaQisya brand. It has a fine balance of both thematic design which is in line with the concept of the 'evil side' in us," says Yana Khairuddin, chief executive officer at CalaQisya.
Yana says the designs carry a moralistic message, that it's tough to be a book judged by its cover, as our true colours would only show in dark times.
Having watched Disney films multiple times, she began to understand how these villainesses play a role and fit into the plot of each story.
"The script in each of the films are somehow associated with the life morals in our everyday lives with an artistic dramatisation in film," she said.
Pieces in the collection are priced between Rm199 to RM289 and are now available via CalaQisya's website www.calaqisya.com.
