FIGHTING avoidable blindness is a cause that French skincare brand L'Occitane has been supporting for over 20 years.
Even in its early days, its commitment towards caring for sight is shown in the use of Braille text on its packaging. Fast forward to World Sight Day 2021, L'Occitane Malaysia continues this philanthropy effort to help underprivileged children gain access to comprehensive eye care.
To do so, L'Occitane is selling a solidarity product to raise funds for local eye projects.
The brand aims to raise a total of RM100,000 (together with RM50,000 that is co-funded by L'Occitane Foundation) through the sale of its Caring for Sight Charity Kit.
The initiative, done in collaboration with the Department of Ophthalmology, Kuala Lumpur Hospital and College of Ophthalmologists, aims to help 8,000 beneficiaries.
There will be comprehensive eye screening for underprivileged children within the Klang Valley and donation of spectacles to those with refractive errors. Children who require further treatment will also be treated by the same department at the hospital.
MINI KIT
The kit contains three products, Shea Hand Cream, Almond Shower Oil and Aqua Reotier Water Gel Cleanser for face.
The products are housed in a limited edition Caring for Sight cotton zip pouch, designed by Prisca Misyel Wewengkang, the student who won the Caring for Sight Design Competition. This is the second year that the brand held the contest with UCSI's Institute of Creative Arts and Design to find a winner whose entry would be featured on the kit's pouch.
The design features an illustration of a boy appreciating the beautiful view of a night sky with his eyes, conveying a message that we shouldn't take our eyesight for granted.
The charity kit is available from now until Dec 31. Priced at RM68, it is available at all L'Occitane Malaysia boutiques, and at experienceloccitane.com, as well as my.loccitane.com.
