KUALA LUMPUR: Not many foreigners enjoy the acquired taste of durian, but South Korean actor Peter Lee Jae-yoon cannot seem to have enough of the king of fruits after sampling it for the first time.
The Canada-born star who had flown in last Thursday was treated to a hearty meal at Jalan Alor which also saw durian being served.
"There were 13 different dishes in front of me but all I wanted was more durian because the flavour is nice and unique!" he said during an interview held at Traders Hotel here, yesterday.
The lanky actor, 32, added jokingly, "It's hard to find durian in South Korea so I might have to pack and bring some home."
Lee, who is popularly known for starring in the hit K-drama Weightlifting Fairy Kim Bok-ju, is in town to participate in the PUMA Night Run Malaysia 2017, taking place today in Cyberjaya.
"I'm really grateful for my Malaysian fans because they leave me messages on Instagram, asking me to come.
"Now I'm here and I'm excited to meet them. Maybe we can even run together today."
He added that meeting fans from outside of South Korea is a surreal experience. "I'm surprised that they actually recognise my work. I feel really blessed."
This marks Lee's first visit to Malaysia.
"I've been to Singapore and Indonesia and I noticed that Malaysia has similar cultures. Still, it feels different here and it's been lovely."
Having seen Kuala Lumpur, the actor hoped to explore places outside of the city as well before he leaves for home tomorrow.
"Since I'm a fan of nature, I want to check out the beaches here, or maybe the jungles or waterfalls. I'll definitely have to come back."
Lee has also starred in the K-dramas Heart To Heart and Another Miss Oh, and was featured in the variety shows Laws Of The Jungle and Cool Kiz On The Block.
