KUALA LUMPUR: Singer Ning Baizura’s father has passed away peacefully on the eve of Hari Raya AidilAdha.
It was reported that Sheikh Hamzah Mohamed, 86, had died in his home in Shah Alam, due to old age.
Ning, 42, said her siblings told her that he was fasting at the time and drew his last breath after Zohor prayers. He was in a calm state at the time and apparently seated on a prayer mat.
“I only saw him later, during the bathing ritual of the body prior to the funeral prayers and was able to kiss his forehead for the very last time,” she was reported to have said via a WhatsApp message.
“An ustaz told me that my father was one of the chosen because he had passed on while still seated after performing his obligatory prayer,” she added.
He was buried in a cemetery in Shah Alam after Asar prayers.
Although she was affected by her father’s death, Ning added that she would stay strong and willingly accepted the fact of his passing.
Yesterday, Ning posted an Al-Fatihah picture on her Instagram account, with a caption expressing her hope that her deceased father and family members would find peace in the hereafter.
