KUALA LUMPUR: Having starred in a string of hit television drama series for the last four years, Ayda Jebat has decided to take a three-month rest from acting, to focus on her singing career.
The 25-year-old award-winning star of Rindu Awak 200% is also busying herself with her yet-to-be-titled debut album, which will be ready by next year.
"Since 2014, I've been appearing in one drama series after another, and I've even had minor roles in films. I love to act, But at the same time, I don't want to sideline singing. With the debut album, this would be the most appropriate time to do so," said Ayda at the launch of her coming film Pinjamkan Hatiku, at the GSC Cineplex in The Gardens, Mid Valley City here yesterday.
Promising to be back on screen "with a bang" next year, Ayda said her schedule for 2018 is "already packed with offers for TV and cinema roles", but she cannot reveal the details yet.
"The year 2018 will be a very busy acting time for me, and that's why I'm taking some time off till December to focus on singing."
When asked about her new film, Ayda said it was a tear-jerker love story directed by Osman Ali and her first film with A-list actors - Shaheizy Sam and Farid Kamil.
"Several mishaps happened during filming - I grazed my cheek after falling while on a raft, while the director himself fell into the lake when we were doing a boating scene. Some crew members fell into the water as well, and did not know how to swim."
Pinjamkan Hatiku will be screened in cinemas on Nov 30.
