KUALA LUMPUR: South Korean actor Song Joong-ki and actress Song Hye-kyo said their “I do’s” yesterday and many are calling it the wedding of the year.
Following the intimate ceremony held at the Shilla Hotel in Seoul, their respective agencies Blossom Entertainment and UAA released some official photos from the happy occasion.
In a statement reported by allkpop, they said, “We appreciate the great attention and love for their wedding.
“It proceeded quietly in a private manner. We once again ask for understanding on the inability of filming as there were limitations at the venue.”
The agencies also revealed some details on the event.
“Joong-ki’s longtime friend was the emcee, (actors) Lee Kwang-soo and Yoo Ah-in recited read their letters for the newlyweds, and (singer) Ock Joo-hyun sang the congratulatory song.”
They ended the statement with: “The two people will repay the love by living happily together.”
Dubbed the Song-Song Couple, Joong-ki, 32, and Hye-kyo, 35, allegedly began seeing each other even before co-starring in the hit K-drama Descendants Of The Sun in 2015.
Dating rumours first circulated earlier this year when the two were spotted shopping together in New York. They were also seen together in Bali last June.
The two stars however continued to deny the rumours, until they suddenly announced their engagement on July 5.
Their Oct 31 nuptials were attended by a slew of their celebrity friends including the cast of variety show Running Man, which Joong-ki was part of once; South Korean actors Park Bo-gum, Cha Tae-hyun, So Ji-sub, Hwang Jung-min, Choi Ji-woo and Kim Hee-sun as well as Chinese actress Zhang Ziyi.
