KUALA LUMPUR: Fresh from its groundbreaking performance at American Music Awards (AMA) which had fans all over the world buzzing on Twitter, the South Korean boyband BTS achieved another milestone - a spot in the Guinness World Record 2018 for having the world’s most Twitter engagements for a music group.
Guinness World Records shared the news on Twitter: “Congrats to @BTS_twt on a stellar performance at last night’s @AMAs!
“#DYK (Did you know)? The South Korean band has succeeded in earning a spot in this year’s #GWR2018 edition for having the world’s most @Twitter engagements for a music group! #BTSxAMAs”
Just last September, BTS was honoured in the same category and featured in the latest The Guinness World Records 2018 book, in which the records were updated up to last May.
Under the social media category, BTS had the second-most Twitter engagements with 152,112 retweets per post for an artiste. It was only second after Harry Styles, who had 180,607 retweets.
Guiness World Records has yet to reveal how many retweets or posts BTS had acquired on Twitter for its AMA performance.
But according to the website Social Blade, which lists the top 10 Twitter profiles sorted by overall engagement, BTS is currently at the top with 252,231 average retweets and 634,246 likes per post.
Three other BTS-related profiles, @bts_love_myself, @bts_bighit and @BigHitEnt are also in the top 10 list.
Additionally, BTS is currently the South Korean artiste with the highest number of Twitter followers, at 10.3 million.
Meanwhile, BTS is also rumoured to have recorded a special performance for this year’s Dick Clark's New Year's Rockin' Eve, the annual most-watched New Year's Eve TV special in the US.
