KUALA LUMPUR: After releasing the single 2 Malaikat late last year, singer Yasin Sulaiman of popular nasyid group Brothers will be dropping a solo tune titled Wahai Manusia soon.
According to a BH Online news report, Yasin, 42, said: "I figure Warner Music will start promoting the new song next month.”
The new number which also features Altimet, Syrimo and US rap artiste Baraka Blue, is expected to cater to fans of the singer-songwriter and Mimpi Laila hitmaker who has been creatively quiet over the years.
“The spiritual track features lyrics written by Baraka Blue himself and it has deep meaning. I hope that everyone will find something in it to like,” said Yasin, who recently uploaded a teaser to the song on his social media account.
He added that although he had not really come up with any new songs of late, he had been quite active with work behind the scenes.
“It’s been some time since I had a new single but I’ve spent most of my time in the studio doing creative work,” he said.
Meanwhile, Yasin, with regards to the single 2 Malaikat which he sang with the two other Brothers members Faiz and Syah, believed that there were still people who compared it negatively to the group’s signature monster hit, Teman Sejati.
2 Malaikat was specially produced as a tribute song in remembrance of the tragic passing of Brothers member, Salleh Deril, who died of a heart attack on Oct 6 in 2016.
“It’s certainly impossible to recreate the success that has been generated by Teman Sejati. But to be honest, we never expected the song, produced around two decades ago, to become such a phenomenon. I myself never thought that my own song, Mimpi Laila, would become popular either,” he said.
“There are a lot of factors that could turn a song into a massive hit. I guess it also comes down to timing and luck as well,” said Yasin.
