Ajai wants to guide next generation of singers

KUALA LUMPUR: Award-winning singer-songwriter Mohd Faizal Maas or Ajai is seeking for fresh talents who want to make singing their career of choice.

The 41-year-old experienced composer recently posted a video announcing that his recording company, Wake The Baby Records, is looking for new talents between the age of 18 and 22.

In the caption accompanying the video, he said that those selected would be joining the pool of talents under his label.

After more than two weeks since the posting, Ajai received thousands of emails from interested individuals who have expressed their interest to be under his tutelage.

“Besides soloists, I’m also looking at establishing bands. I think the music industry is lacking in bands unlike how it used to be in the 1990s where bands were aplenty,” he added.

Ajai told BH Online that his intention was to ensure that the music industry continued to churn out quality young singers.

“Young talents need to equip themselves with the right knowledge and singing skills. Rather than just having an ability to carry a tune or two, they also need to know exactly what music is all about and what music fans want to hear.

“There must be some sense of continuity in the music industry. I don’t want it to be filled with young talents who are not really up to the mark,” he added.
