Little Siti Aafiyah is only slightly more than a week old and already in the limelight. But if her mother, singer Datuk Seri Siti Nurhaliza Tarudin, 39, has her way, the cute tot will lead a normal life.
Siti said she wanted Aafiyah to enjoy a normal childhood.
During a recent thanksgiving event at Bukit Antarabangsa, Selangor, she said: “I can’t run from the fact that Aafiyah is the daughter of a singer. She will get a taste of celebrity life. But my husband and I would like for her to grow up just like any other kid.”
Siti said she would leave it to the discretion of her husband, Datuk Seri Khalid Mohamad Jiwa, in the event her daughter was offered entertainment projects.
“From now on, any issue that relates to my daughter will have to be discussed first between me and my husband. If he says there’s no need, then I will follow his lead.”
The award-winning artiste added that they intended the tahnik and aqiqah rituals held that night to not be exclusive to any party.
Although the guests consisted of only family members, relatives and friends, the event was opened for all to see via a live session on her Siti Official Video channel on YouTube, which drew more than 33,000 viewers.
“We waited for seven days after her birth in accordance with the sunnah of the Prophet Muhammad,” said Siti, who revealed her daughter’s name at the 80-minute event.
She added that images and things relating to Aafiyah would be shared on Siti’s Instagram account.
She said she had not thought of creating an account for her baby yet.
“Prior to this, there were fake accounts linked to my child.
“Whatever information I put out will have come through me and people will know that it’s true.”
She gave birth to her firstborn in Kuala Lumpur on March 19.
Siti kept her promise to reveal her daughter’s name and to upload her image online on the seventh day after.
