KUALA LUMPUR: There’s no place like home. Especially when home is a 30-room palatial estate built on a RM13 million piece of land.
Cosmetics entrepreneur-turned-singer-turned-actor Datuk Seri Aliff Syukri Kamarzaman must have made his guests’ collective jaws drop when he recently organised a media tour of his new “humble abode.”
According to a news report, the residence, dubbed Aliff Syukri Palace and located in Kota Damansara, followed the royal modern classic concept.
In line with that, the multimillionaire said that every area of the grand household had an element of the modern and vintage which followed his design taste.
“It’s the royal modern classic concept. Ninety per cent of what you see in my home, I took inspiration from the things I saw from my travels overseas or whatever I thought was interesting from hotels. I’d take pictures and then discuss the look with my interior designer,” he said.
The Abang Nak Tegur singer added: “Every room tells a story of its own about a certain place or was inspired by something. There are areas that were inspired by Celine Dion and Shah Rukh Khan’s homes as well.”
But Aliff declined to talk about the actual cost of building his dream dwelling when asked. “All I can say is that it’s built on four housing lots and the land costs RM13 million,” said the father-of-three who starred in the superhero movie Badang.
He added that he had a few things to settle before his new homestead would be perfect and complete. “It’s eighty per cent completed and the rest would be to ready the basement level of the house. I’m very particular about everything especially when choosing the furniture and other home appliances. I’ve changed the main dining table and the carpet before since it didn’t go with what I had visualised,” he said.
Aliff added: “I want the best for my home. Though I do realise that throughout the duration of getting this place ready I have received lots of criticism and brick bats from Netizens.”
The successful entrepreneur apparently bought the land in 2015, began building and renovation works a year later and finally moved in this month.
The 30-room home includes a gymnasium, prayer room, panic room, office space, jacuzzi area, four luxurious guest rooms, an abode for his cat and a cinema theatrette that was designed by the same person who did the TGV cinemas.
The basement level has a room as well and enough space to fit eight luxury cars at once. All of the furniture, mostly special edition items following a gold theme, are of luxury brands imported from Italy, Spain, London and Jakarta. Security for the residence is maintained by a dozen security guards.
On a different note, Aliff celebrated turning 31 on Tuesday by organising a fabulous Hindustani-themed birthday bash at his palace, which was attended by the who’s who of the celeb scene that included Fasha Sandha, Lisa Surihani, Norman Hakim, Datuk Aznil Haji Nawawi, Michael Ang and Wak Doyok.
