KUALA LUMPUR: Popular comedian and host Nabil Ahmad is clearly devoted to his popular entertainment talk show MeleTop, dispelling rumours that he wants to “move on”.
The Seremban-born funnyman who co-hosts the Astro Ria talk show with Noor Neelofa Mohd Noor recently renewed his contract with the channel for another year, and insisted that he “loved the job too much”.
“My career ain’t going to be ‘meletup’ (explosive) without MeleTop. I'm sticking to this wonderful show, and furthermore, the channel and viewers have told me to stay on,” he said in a news report today.
When asked about his recent statements that he would devote more time to producing and hosting religious programmes, Nabil said it did not mean he was turning his back on pop culture.
“I’m still a fan of popular culture and I’ll continue to follow Malaysian music and movies passionately. MeleTop offers me the best avenue to keep abreast with the latest developments in showbiz.”
Nabil also said that he worked well with Neelofa and the production team, and that every weekly show was very fulfilling.
“In fact, they’ve often told me I’m synonymous with MeleTop and it’s difficult to find a replacement host whenever I go on holiday with my wife and children. Thus, MeleTop remains my cup of tea.”
