KUALA LUMPUR: Becoming a mother is a major milestone in life, thus celebrating Hari Raya as a “first time mum” is a beautiful moment for pop queen Datuk Seri Siti Nurhaliza.
Siti, 39, describes this year’s Aidilfitri as her “most complete” after giving birth to her daughter Siti Aafiyah Mohd Khalid last March 19, after 11 years of marriage to businessman Datuk Seri Khalid Mohd Jiwa.
She admits that the arrival of her three-month-old “princess” has completely changed her life, from one centred on her singing career to one that sees her spend quality time with her loved ones.
“Since Aafiyah came into our lives, fans have been sending her lots of gifts, particularly in the form of clothes, including Raya wear. Khalid and I have chosen those which suit her well, and we plan to give the rest to the children of our close friends,” said Siti in an interview today.
The singer revealed that Aafiyah also received dresses from fashion designers who had worked with her, and many of these were made from materials that matched her own outfits.
“Khalid and I don’t always wear matching outfits for Raya, but this year, we plan to do so, specially for our baby daughter. We want this Raya to be unforgettable!” she said, adding that Aafiyah was also Khalid’s parents’ first grand daughter.
When asked about her Raya plans, Siti said she would be visiting Khalid’s family in Alor Star and her own family in Kuala Lipis, Pahang.
“Aafiyah hasn’t gone on long car rides, so we have to plan our journeys carefully. We want her to be comfortable and enjoy the rides, especially since she’ll be the centre of attraction for our loved ones in the kampung,” she said, adding that the family will be visiting Japan in October.
On her singing career, Siti said she will be back in the studio next month.
“I had planned to come back six months after Aafiyah was born, thus August is the right time,” she said.
“Nevertheless, I won’t be having any major concert, till next year.”
