#Showbiz: Yuri of Girls' Generation's debut solo album conquers iTunes album charts worldwide

KUALA LUMPUR: Popular member of long-standing female K-Pop group Girls’ Generation, Yuri, sure has a lot to be happy about.

The 28-year-old’s first ever solo EP release, The First Scene, has been hitting all the right notes on iTunes charts around the globe.

According to Soompi, the album, released four days ago1, has been very well-received and garnering the No. 1 spot in countries including Malaysia, Singapore, Thailand, the Philippines, Vietnam, Cambodia, Hong Kong, Taiwan, Turkey, Sweden, Brazil, Chile, Belize and Guatemala.

The EP, which contains six tracks, features a mix of catchy dance pop, ballad and bossa nova-infused numbers, performed solo by Yuri, who is also a popular actress.

Meanwhile, fans of the second sub-unit of Girls’ Generation, dubbed Oh!GG, can check out its new music video.

Soompi reported that SM Culture & Contents Creative Lab had uploaded a special unofficial music video for the unit’s song Fermata yesterday.

The tune is a B-side track from Oh!GG’s debut single, Lil’ Touch, which also serves as the main theme song for the unit’s reality show, Girls For Rest.

A sweet song, it conveys a message to have some introspection and to take things slow, even when one is caught up in the modern world of living fast and having to constantly push ahead without any rest.

The Fermata music video features various clips of Oh!GG members — Taeyeon, Sunny, Hyoyeon, Yuri and Yoona.— during a trip to southern France earlier this year.
