#Showbiz: 'No excuse for second marriage' — Erma tells brother-in-law

KUALA LUMPUR: Director Erma Fatima is euphoric that her younger sister Betty Rahmad will soon become a mother.

Betty who is six months’ pregnant, recently announced that she and her husband Ardy Damis were eagerly awaiting the birth of their son.

Erma counts her sister extremely lucky as she herself was unable to have children with her ex-husband, director Bade Azmi.

And true to her “rapid fire” wit, the star of Mak Cun ribbed Betty’s husband telling him there was “no excuse to marry a second wife” now.

Erma, 50, who has five adopted children aged between 12 and 25, made her witty remark in a caption to an Instagram post yesterday.

The post contained a short video where Betty and Ardy announced to their family members and close friends that they would soon become proud parents of a baby boy.

“This nine-month period is God’s blessing upon you, Betty. They’re the most beautiful moments of your life,” she said.

“Thank God that my little sister will become a mum three months down the road. Ardy, there’s no excuse for you to take a second now!”

Erma had hoped that Betty and Ardy would have a daughter, but a son would be “just as good”.

Fans and followers viewed the video and many congratulated Erma, Betty and Ardy.

“Well said, Erma. When baby’s on the way, there’s no reason for daddy to marry more than once!” said Sazreena.

“Congrats Betty and Ardy. May baby arrive healthy and sweet!” said Salina.

Betty, 35, and Ardy, 30, were married last Feb 6 in Damansara Perdana, Petaling Jaya.
