KUALA LUMPUR: Anggun C. Sasmi, the Indonesian singer who had made it big internationally, recently opened up a bit on religion in an Instagram posting.
The 44-year-old singer of the hit song, Snow On The Sahara, shared a clip of a TV interview by Arte, a Franco-German television network, during which she explained despite being born and raised in a Muslim family, her father had no qualms sending her and her siblings to a Catholic missionary school.
In the clip, Anggun said: “I’m from Indonesia which is the biggest Muslim country in the world, so I come from a Muslim family. But my father who was an author wanted his children to have an open and tolerant mind, that’s why he put us into a Catholic school.”
It’s obvious why Anggun had preferred to keep her views on the matter private prior to this, as it could spark heated debates between the followers of both religions, as the IG entry saw many sharing their two cents.
Anggun, however, didn’t get defensive with some of the more negative or fiery comments hurled towards her.
Instead, the beautiful artiste just explained that she had only wanted to share her personal story (first on TV, and then on social media) without any ulterior motive.
