KUALA LUMPUR: Veteran actor Lan Zailan, 66, was laid to rest at the USJ 22 Islamic Cemetery in Puchong today.
The solemn ceremony, attended by family and friends, took place under overcast skies, Berita Hairan reported.
Lan passed away earlier this morning at 4.24am at the Universiti Malaya Medical Centre (PPUM).
His eldest daughter, Baizura Zailan, 43, expressed gratitude for the smooth proceedings and the presence of supportive well-wishers.
"Alhamdulillah, everything went well, from bathing the body to the burial. Even the weather, though dim, was pleasant and encouraged many to visit," she said when met at the cemetery at noon.
Baizura fondly recalled her father's cheerful personality, which left a lasting impression on those around him.
"Everyone who knew him said he was a kind man. Last night, Ako Mustapha came by and shared how wonderful my father was, even though they didn't work together often.
"He had a knack for making people laugh. He was the entertainer of the family," she added.
Baizura described her father as a humorous and supportive parent.
"He loved to joke and tease but was flexible as a father. He always encouraged us to pursue what we wanted," she said.
Despite a diagnosis predicting three months to live after cancer had spread to his liver and lungs, Lan's time was cut short to just three days.
"We're grateful we had the chance to be by his side until his final breath. He had been discharged from the hospital but chose to return.
"We respected his wishes. Although it was brief, everything felt easy and peaceful," Baizura shared.
Lan had been undergoing treatment at PPUM since Nov 27.
With a career spanning over four decades, he was a familiar face in Malaysian dramas and films.
His notable works include Santan Berlada, Rumah Kedai, True Story, and Gerak Khas.
